Located only 3km from the U.S. border and 56 km from Vancouver, White Rock is a charming seaside city renowned for its sandy beaches and moderate climate. The Peninsula, with a combined population of approximately 80,000, also encompasses Ocean Park, Crescent Beach and South Surrey, which offer a wide diversity of living styles. Our area is blessed with more hours of sunshine and less rainfall than most of southwestern B.C. The average summer temperature is 22C and the average winter temperature is 5C. White Rock is the self-proclaimed Golf Capital of Canada with 15 golf courses within a 15 minute drive of the city.

The focal point of the Peninsula is Marine Drive, a scenic stretch along the ocean where unique restaurants and shops offer visitors an enjoyable day or night out. The pier stretches 1559 feet into the ocean and is a favourite for that early morning or sunset stroll. The 486 ton ‘white rock or large stone’ for which the city was named is claimed to have been thrown onto the beach by the son of a sea god to prove his strength. This is defiantly a popular spot for picture taking by visitors and local residence.

The city's uptown is pedestrian-friendly with ample crosswalks and resting benches. A small town feeling is preserved and an emphasis is placed on the quality of life. Due to the hard work of many volunteers working with our police force, White Rock has one of the lowest crime rates in the Lower Mainland. White Rock has a very active seniors community fulfilling the needs of our abundant retired population. There are also an increasingly amount of young families calling the Peninsula their home. In the area there are 3 high schools, 18 elementary schools and 3 private schools. This area is known for the fine quality of its pre-school programs and excellent standards set from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The 3 libraries that service White Rock District offer a wide variety of learning opportunities for all ages.

White Rock is a favourite area for the outdoors minded with windsurfing, sailing, ocean kayaking, running clubs, lawn bowling, tennis, swimming and hiking through the many parks. For those who like to ski in the winter, we are located within an hour's drive to several local ski resorts. One can golf in the morning and ski in the afternoon!
